FAQs

What is it?

Spravato is a painless, self-administered nasal spray done in-office under a provider’s supervision. Administration of the nasal spray only takes a few moments; the remaining time is spent relaxing while under a provider’s supervision.

How does it work?

Spravato works by increasing glutamate, an excitatory neurotransmitter that regulates both learning and memory.

How many treatment sessions do I need?

Sessions are 2x a week for the first 4 weeks, then 1x a week for the second 4 weeks.

How long are treatment sessions?

Each session is about 2 hours long, with the administration of the nasal spray taking place initially, followed by a 2-hour supervised rest period.

Is maintenance required?

Maintenance follow-ups are recommended biweekly or monthly in order to maintain remission along with continuation of medications.
